Our carnivorous plant soil is an ideal blend of sphagnum peat moss and perlite that allows for quick drainage and air movement–two of the most essential elements for the survival and growth of carnivorous plants. Water exclusively with distilled or rain water, as other types of water can prove fatal to the plant extremely quickly. Carnivorous plants predominantly originate from very moist "boggy" environments, so you may want to consider "bottom-watering" your carnivorous plants by allowing your potted plant to continuously sit in a small saucer of standing water. When mixing your soil for initial use, it is best to thoroughly moisten the dirt mix until completely soggy before using for planting.

This mix provides quick drainage, soil aeration and nutrient retention, with ingredients including perlite and peat moss. The 8 quart size is enough for a big 12-inch pot.
